UPDATE 4/4 10:30 AM: Tribe fans are receiving a t-shirt and tickets to a Phife Dawg celebration event tomorrow (Tuesday) night at the Apollo theater (see this photo via a Redditor at this morning’s event). It’s unclear if the event is a memorial service, a concert, or both.
Tomorrow morning, A Tribe Called Quest is hosting a ‘Celebration of Phife’ in remembrance of Malik Taylor, a.k.a. Phife Dawg, who passed away on March 23rd. The celebration takes place in St. Albans Park in Queens at 10:30 AM. Tribe took to Instagram today (see below) to post a map of the event and promise something “very special” to the first 200 fans who arrive.
