Banksy’s identity may have finally been revealed in a casual remark by drum and bass legend Goldie.

Goldie appeared on rapper Scroobius Pip’s ‘Distraction Pieces’ podcast on Tuesday. During the interview, Goldie said the following during a discussion about graffiti (via Metro):

Give me a bubble letter and put it on a T-shirt and write ‘Banksy’ on it and we’re sorted. We can sell it now … No disrespect to Robert, I think he is a brilliant artist. I think he has flipped the world of art over.

Last year, theories emerged that Banksy is actually Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack – or a group of people including Del Naja. If Goldie was indeed referring to Robert Del Naja, Banksy’s identity may finally be out of the bag.

Last year, a dedicated researcher named Craig Williams did some intense sleuthing regarding the link between Robert Del Naja and Banksy. Williams uncovered a pattern: Banksy murals tend to pop up in cities where Massive Attack is performing. The evidence stretches across the world and throughout Banksy’s long career. Goldie’s remark seems to support the theory that Banksy and Del Naja are one and the same.
