Banksy’s newest work is an “art hotel” located in the West Bank city of Bethlehem. The hotel is called the Walled Off – a play on Waldorf. According to Banksy’s website, “The hotel boasts floor to ceiling views of graffiti-strewn concrete from almost every room. And for the exhibitionists amongst you – many are within range of the army watchtower.” This functional hotel and art gallery opens this week.
The hotel sits across from Israel’s separation wall; Banksy calls it “the hotel with the worst view in the world.”
Guest rooms have been customized by Banksy, Sami Musa and Dominique Petrin. The site says that “If you stay at the Walled Off you could find yourself literally sleeping inside a work of art.” One room includes surplus items from an Israeli military barrack.
