Today, we’re premiering the music video for the song ‘California’ from Black Bear Rodeo (watch below). The band says the video is a “revenge rodeo executed by Girl X: a mysterious woman who is kidnapped by Captain Bird Turd and his devious squad – which features a dildo-swingin’ freak, a nicotine-fueled clown, a predator of God, and a bear.” The ‘California’ video combines Kill Bill-style ass-kicking, animal-mask-villains reminiscent of horror flick You’re Next, and much more.

‘California’ is a track from Black Bear Rodeo’s new EP, Bunk, which was engineered by Steve Albini and Barret Guzaldo at Electrical Audio and Treehouse Records. The video was shot by Chicago filmmakers New Trash. New Trash says of the video: “We wanted to make the most ridiculous action film we could. We had the amazing pleasure of working with fight coordinator Dom Smith and his fantastic stunt team, featuring Chloe Gingold as ‘X’. Every member of our crew and the band worked incredibly hard to make the video the insane ride that it is, and we couldn’t be luckier to be surrounded by such talented artists.”

Fight coordinator Dom Smith says, “When New Trash pitched me the initial idea, it hooked me right in, because right away it gave me vibes of old grindhouse and Tarantino films. … I got into stunts to have fun filming awesome projects with friends, and with New Trash, that is definitely what we did.”
