Metal god Ronnie James Dio was many things during his lifetime: the frontman of classic bands including Black Sabbath and Dio, the popularizer of the metal ‘devil horns’ salute (which he credited to his Italian grandmother), and one of the greatest voices in metal. Dio passed away in 2010, but now he is returning to fans – as a hologram. A hologram of Dio will front a group of the musician’s former band members this year on a tour called “Dio Returns.”

Dio’s widow, Wendy Dio, told Rolling Stone: “Ronnie was always wanting to experiment with new stage ideas and was a big Disney fan. With this said, I am sure he is giving us his blessing with this hologram project.”

The Dio estate collaborated with hologram company Eyelusion to create the effect. The Dio Band consists of guitarist Craig Goldy, drummer Simon Wright, keyboardist Scott Warren and bassist Bjorn Englen.
