
In Eminem’s 2000 hit ‘Stan,’ the Detroit rapper exchanges letters with a sycophant named Stan who becomes increasingly unstable. Now, the word ‘stan’ is officially a word in the Oxford dictionary. It’s a noun, meaning, “an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity.”
‘Stan’ was the third single from The Marshall Mathers LP. Eminem returned to the concept with the follow-up song ‘Bad Guy’ on his 2013 LP The Marhsall Mathers LP 2. Watch Em’s ‘Stan’ video here:
