Baltimore’s Have Mercy have released the video for ‘Good Christian Man’ – the second single from their forthcoming LP Make the Best of It. The song combines soul-searching lyrics with an aggressive chorus driven by heavy guitars. ‘Good Christian Man’ finds Have Mercy frontman Brian Swindle wrestling with the gap between spiritual faith and organized religion. “I grew up in a Catholic family,” Swindle said in a press release. “I’ve always believed faith is a beautiful thing but never thought religion was for me. This is mainly about me not being able to openly talk about these things with my family.”

Swindle may have doubts about the benefits organized religion – but his faith in his music seems to be unwavering. “Everyone who worked on the album poured every ounce of themselves into this,” he says. “Even if nobody likes this record, we don’t give a shit.” Make the Best of It was written and recorded over a seven-month period, during which band members came and went, making Swindle the only remaining original member of Have Mercy. Make the Best of It is due April 21st via Hopeless Records.
