Her Harbour is the moniker of Gabrielle Giguère’s orchestral dream-folk project. Giguère’s new song, ‘Hewing Crowns,’ stirs an instant emotional ache. Like the work of Elliott Smith, ‘Hewing Crowns’ strikes a nerve before a single lyric is uttered. When the vocals arrive, the darkness descends: “you conjure demon in me / You conjure demon,” Giguère sings.
‘Hewing Crowns’ is the first single from Her Harbour’s sophomore album, Go Gently Into the Night, due February 3rd. The video consists of found footage from Conrad Aiken’s 1966 short film Silent Snow, Secret Snow.
“I wrote the songs at a time where death felt omnipresent,” Giguère wrote in an email. “This album has been my attempt at making peace with death as a character of growing importance in my life.”
