Kool Keith and KutMasta Kurt made some of the wildest and most innovative hip hop of the nineties. The M.C. and producer are responsible for hip hop classics including Sex Style, Dr. Dooom’s First Come, First Served, and Masters of Illusion.
Now, KutMasta Kurt (a.k.a Kurt Matlin) is preparing an EP of material recorded with Kool Keith during their fertile nineties collaboration. This new EP of material from the vaults is titled Your Mom is My Wife. Listen to ‘Black Sheriff’ below.
Kurt discussed Your Mom is My Wife during a 2016 interview here at Culture Creature. Kurt described the project as “recordings from after Sex Style but before Dr. Dooom…. I’ve selected six songs that I’m gonna release.” The recordings were made during the 1996–97 era. They contain vintage Kool Keith rhymes and Kurt’s eery beats. Your Mom is My Wife will be released through Matlin’s Threshold Recordings, no official release date has been set.
