Lana Del Rey took to Facebook to announce her new album, titled Lust for Life. The pop star made the announcement with a black and white trailer video.

Lust for Life is also the title of a 1977 solo album by Iggy Pop. That album’s title track became iconic after its use in Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting.

Is Del Rey’s use of the title an example of clever pop appropriation, akin to artist Richard Prince’s appropriation of strangers’ Instagram photos? Or did Lana decide she just didn’t care that this title had already been used?
