Today, we’re premiering the video for ‘Deep Fried American Dreams’ by Chicago noise/Americana artists Longface. The song is a cut from the band’s forthcoming LP, Hillbilly Wit, which is due October 27th (preorder here).
Hillybilly Wit is an unhinged musical satire based on Longface’s namesake character. The album blends elements of country-inspired folk, grimy experimental rock, and narrative songwriting. Longface has created a world where beer-drinking bumpkins, urban hipsters, and starving artists melt unevenly into a monstrous sideshow of rock n’ roll Americana. In heavier moments, Longface confronts social isolation, substance abuse, and economic stagnation. In lighter moments, the character Longface radiates a folksy playfulness and embraces the role of whimsical storyteller. Longface (the band) is Anthony Focareto (vocals, guitar), Glenn Curran (guitar), Dillon Kelley (bass), and Kain Marzalado (drums).
The ‘Deep Fried American Dreams’ video was created by Ryan Gregory, a multimedia artist and musician from Flint, Michigan.
