New Zealand’s Marlon Williams is preparing the release of his sophomore album, Make Way For Love, due February 16th via Dead Oceans. The album announcement was accompanied by a video for ‘Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore’ (watch below). The song is Williams’ duet with singer Aldous Harding (who is also Williams’ ex-girlfriend). ‘Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore’ was recorded via a late-night long distance phone call; Williams told NPR that the remote recording and the challenges surrounding it helped express the song’s meaning.

Williams recorded Make Way For Love with producer Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom, Cate Le Bon) and his regular backing band, The Yarra Benders, in North California’s Panoramic Studios after several weeks of pre-production in his native Lyttelton, NZ. Make Way For Love follows Williams’ 2015 self-titled debut LP.
