Mat Kerekes is the frontman of Citizen. He is also a solo artist with a new album, Ruby, due this year. Kerekes tapped into themes of nostalgia on the album – thanks, in part, to his favorite video game franchise. “Discovering Mortal Kombat opened up the floodgates of nostalgia,” says Kerekes. “It was just amazing how it made me feel. I started to think about a lot of other things too, from my childhood.”
