Video Premiere: Nedelle Torrisi, ‘Rich Kids World’

Today, Los Angeles musician Nedelle Torrisi unveils the video for her single ‘Rich Kids World’ (watch below). The video employs pastel hues and Wes Anderson vibes to illustrate Torrisi’s playful commentary about privilege. Nedelle Torrisi’s new album, Only For You, is due May 18 via Frenchkiss Records.

“The sarcastic lyrics are about how the world is made for rich people,” Torrisi explains. “I play both an Italian movie star and an Italian peasant in the video. It’s an homage to my Sicilian heritage, as my grandparents came to the United States the year before the Great Depression and built a life during that difficult time.”

Only For You is the follow up to 2015’s Advice From Paradise and was co-produced by Torrisi and Billy Uomo (Babes), who also played and programmed drums on the album. Only For You includes additional production by the band Inc. and Ariel Pink collaborator Kenny Gilmore. In addition to vocal duties, Torrisi also plays keyboards, guitar and violin on Only For You. The ‘Rich Kids World’ video is directed by Natalie Fält.

Nedelle Torrisi will play a record release party tomorrow, May 17, at The Freehand Hotel in Los Angeles.
