If there were a Mount Rushmore of bass guitarists, Victor Wooten’s face would be up there right next to Claypool’s or Jaco’s. Wooten has won five Grammys, and he won the “Bass Player of the Year” award from Bass Player magazine three times in a row.
Wooten is a member of a new progressive metal band called Octavision, who have just released their first song, ‘Three Lives’ (listen below). The band is led by guitarist and primary composer Hovak Alaverdyan. Octavision also includes keyboardist Steve Weingart, keyboardist Ara Torosyan, and drummer Roman Lomtadze.
Octavision describes ‘Three Lives’ as “a three-part progressive metal piece which much like the band’s style as a whole incorporates aspects of heavy metal, progressive rock, as well as ethnic musical styles and instruments.”
